Data-Driven Design Workflows with LunchBox

LunchBox is one of the most popular freely available Grasshopper plugins. LunchBox provides tools for geometric development, data workflows, and Machine Learning (ML).

This workshop will introduce users to a variety of design development techniques using the LunchBox plugin including geometry generation, analysis, data preparation, ML model training, and ML model testing.

Additionally, the workshop will cover novel BIM workflows for leveraging LunchBox and Grasshopper in Revit using Rhino.Inside and the Conveyor plugin.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn about popular LunchBox components for rapid geometric development, analysis, and rationalization.
  • Learn about workflows for utilizing LunchBox components with Revit via Rhino.Inside and Conveyor for BIM design development and analysis.
  • Learn how to use LunchBox’s data management tools to orchestrate well-structured datasets and enable training scenarios with Machine Learning algorithms.
  • Learn how to test, save, and reuse Machine Learning models within Grasshopper.

Requirements:

Attendees should bring their own laptop (Windows only) and have the following software installed and working:

  • Rhinoceros 8 with Grasshopper
  • LunchBox (available on the Rhino package manager)
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Revit 2025
  • Microsoft Power BI
  • Conveyor (Free trial available – https://apps.provingground.io/conveyor)
  • Semantic (Free trial available – https://apps.provingground.io/semantic)

NB* This is a Windows only workshop (it is not suitable for Mac OS X)

Attendee Prerequisites:

  • Attendees should be familiar with Rhinoceros 8 and basic Grasshopper workflows
  • Attendees should have beginner to intermediate knowledge of Revit.
