Shape to Fabrication 2018 was the 7th iteration of the conference and provided a further fantastic 2-day immersion in to different creative fields.
The diversity of Shape to Fabrication is part of its attractiveness. Fabricators, architects, engineers and designers interacting and sharing stories, challenges and solutions.
Day 1 of the conference was on Tuesday April 24th and opened with a presentation from Heatherwick, followed by an interactive presentation from Zoe Laughlin with the Institute of Making. The day continued with amongst others, Arup, Mamou-mani Architects, McNeel and left everyone talking after our closing presentation from Moritz Waldemeyer “How Parametrics Changed Everything”.
Day 2 kicked off with an inspiring presentation from Chris Precht (Penda) and throughout the day the inspirational theme continued with presentations including Fologram, Loop.ph, Ramboll, Proving Ground, Foster + Partners, Format Engineers and we closed with a presentation from Hawkins\Brown which featured a project being built close by in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Shape to Fabrication 2018 was the best yet, but we will return in 2020 to raise the bar again, with presenters and presentations from those shaping the future and pushing technology and engineering to new heights!
