The AECtech Hackathon – Overview + Results

Every year for over a decade the annual AECtech Hackathon has brought together an incredibly diverse group of technology enthusiasts from architecture, engineering, construction, and far beyond to collaborate on innovative solutions for the AEC industry. Until a few years ago, the hackathon was just a part of the annual AECtech Conference in NYC, which includes a symposium, workshops, regional experiences, and networking opportunities. Recently, growing interest and the generosity of regional partners including BIG, Foster + Partners, Heatherwick, University of Southern California, Woodbury University, IAAC, McNeel, Shape to Fabrication, and many others, has expanded the event to multiple regional Hackathons all across the globe. And the first Hackathon of 2025 will take place in London in partnership with Shape to Fabrication and will be hosted by Foster + Partners.
The AECtech Hackathon is more than just a competition, it’s an incubator for transformative ideas. Over an intense 26-hour sprint, participants of all skill levels, from first-time coders to seasoned developers, engineers, and visionaries, join forces to tackle industry challenges. Teams leverage emerging technologies to transform the AEC space and impact an ever-expanding range of industries. Attendees gain insights into the power of cross-disciplinary collaboration and experiment with the latest advancements in digital design workflows.
This presentation will introduce the three winning AECtech London Hackathon Projects, their teams, and if those teams are feeling brave, a live demo or two.
