STF#8 - 2023: Past Workshops

WU02
Pollination Rhino Plugin Workflows

Home > Workshops
  Monday April 24, 2023
From 09:30 to 17:30
University of Westminster (Marylebone Campus, London NW1 5LS)

Delivered by the developers from Ladybug tools and Rhino Developers, McNeel

A workshop intended primarily for building performance analysts, energy modellers, engineers, and architects looking to streamline the process of producing and simulating analytical energy models from design models.

Participants will learn a range of Pollination Rhino commands that automate the geometry cleanup process and eliminate the need to manually re-trace or rebuild the design geometry to create a clean analytical model.

The first half of the workshop will cover workflows for quickly cleaning up models exported from the Pollination Revit plugin, turning BIM models into full-building analytical models that can advise on a range of design decisions in hours instead of days.

In the afternoon, participants will learn several workflows for simulating the analytical models that have been produced from the Pollination Rhino plugin. The workshop will touch briefly on the export pathways to IES-VE, DesignBuilder, and eQuest but spend most of the time covering simulation workflows within Pollination, Ladybug Tools, OpenStudio and Radiance. This will involve simulating the Pollination Rhino model directly with Pollination Apps, running simulations on the cloud with the Pollination Cloud Platform, and passing the Pollination Honeybee Model to Grasshopper for highly customised and/or parametric analyses with Ladybug Tools.

Requirements:

A Windows laptop computer with Rhino 7 (or 6) installed along with the Pollination Rhino Plugin (please note that full instructions for installing the Pollination Rhino Plugin will be supplied directly to those who book on to the workshop).
