Shape to Fabrication (STF) started life in 2006 as a gathering of like-minded experts in the field of computational design in AEC. From this first event it has grown to become one of the most significant Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Design focused conferences in the world, devoted to advances in cutting-edge technology and applications in computational and parametric design, innovative construction and digital fabrication.
The backbones of Shape to Fabrication are real-world built projects and the community that has developed around the event. Projects presented at the conference go beyond the theory to tell their full story, from concept and design iteration to final delivery – sharing the processes, workflows, software utilisation, and fabrication lessons learnt along the way. Shape to Fabrication attendees are a friendly collection of industry experts, leaders in their fields, students & teachers, all of whom are happy to share ideas, fostering an atmosphere that inspires, creates opportunities and builds an ever growing community.
The 9th iteration of Shape to Fabrication took place at the University of Westminster in April 2025. Eleven carefully curated in-person workshops happened on the 15th of April, all delivered by industry leaders from the fields of architecture, engineering and software development. The main 2-day Conference took place on the 16 & 17th April with projects from an international field of presenters and we’ve published detailed written reports of the 2025 presentations. Sandwiched between the two days of the conference was the Shape to Fab ‘Happy Hour’ held at Heatherwick Studio, a great evening for all the conference attendees to celebrate the mid-point of the conference. April 2027 for Shape to Fabrication’s 10th Birthday Event in London
Shape to Fabrication is back in April 2027 for our 10th iteration and we are planning some extra special surprises for our 10th birthday. More news to follow but for now we invite you to ‘Save the Date’ and we hope you’ll be able to join the STF Community in London.
